Sacramento, CA
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World has launched its 2026 activities with strong community engagement and a renewed mission to empower youth and adults with factual information about drugs, equipping them to make informed decisions and live drug-free lives.

Recent data underscores the urgency of prevention efforts. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, 51.2 percent of Americans aged twelve and older have used illicit drugs at least once. Additionally, drug overdoses have claimed more than 1.15 million lives in the United States since 1999. These sobering figures highlight the growing need for effective educational solutions at the community level.
In response, the Foundation’s Sacramento chapter began the year with a series of impactful outreach initiatives. Volunteers participated in the local Guns and Hoses charity football game between law enforcement officers and firefighters, hosted an informational exhibit at the Steps to College event, and conducted widespread community outreach during Super Bowl week.

Through these combined volunteer efforts, more than 38,000 educational booklets were distributed across Sacramento and the Bay Area, supporting a much larger distribution effort during the big game in San Francisco. Each booklet represents a proactive step toward prevention, providing individuals and families with clear, fact-based information about the dangers of drug use.
Local Chapter Director Nathan Johnson thanked the Church of Scientology for its support through the use of its printing facilities, enabling the Foundation to provide its educational materials free of charge. Today, the initiative is recognized as the world’s largest non-governmental drug prevention education program, driven by volunteers dedicated to creating safer, healthier communities.
