Author Migdrei Fernandez invites young readers and families on a vibrant journey through Cuba in her heartwarming new children’s book, Tito the Tocororo:A Song Across Cuba. Now available on Amazon in eBook, Paperback, and Hardcover formats, this beautifully illustrated story celebrates courage, kindness, family, and the unbreakable bond between home and heart.
Tito the Tocororo follows Tito, a young Cuban Trogon and Cuba’s national bird, whose feathers shimmer in the colors of the Cuban flag: white like the star, blue like the Caribbean Sea, and red like a tropicalsunset. When Tito chases a golden butterfly deep into the forest, he suddenly finds himself lost and alone. With help from new friends, including Zunzuncita the Bee Hummingbird and Pepito the Pygmy Owl, Tito learns that every path has something to teach him—and that kindness makes him stronger with every step.
From the breathtaking Viñales Valley to sparkling rivers and royal palms, Tito’s journey introduces children to Cuba’s distinctive wildlife and natural beauty. Along the way, he discovers the true meaning of Libertad—freedom—and the joy of finding his way home through his family’s song.
Migdrei Fernandez, a Cuban-American author, drew on her own memories of Cuba to create this tender and inspiring tale. Tito the Tocororo is the first in a planned series celebrating Cuba’s native animals and natural treasures for young readers around the world.
With its lyrical bilingual text, stunning illustrations, and timeless message— “Follow your song. Find your way home”—Tito the Tocororo is perfect for bedtime reading, classroom discussions, and family sharing.
Tito the Tocororo: A Song Across Cuba is available now on Amazon in eBook, Paperback, and Hardcover formats.
