Fundamental Futbol Academy (FFA NYC), a nonprofit youth soccer organization rooted in Lower Manhattan, is opening its Fall 2026–2027 season with a clear promise to New York City families: build the player before chasing the result. Through a progressive development pathway for children beginning at ages 5 and 6 and continuing into competitive travel soccer, FFA NYC gives developing athletes the technical foundation, confidence and soccer intelligence required to pursue increasingly demanding levels of the game.
At a time when many youth programs prioritize recruiting finished players and collecting trophies, FFA NYC takes a different approach. The Academy was created to develop potential—especially in children who love soccer but still need the patient, purposeful instruction that turns enthusiasm into skill. Passing, dribbling, shooting, body control, balance, coordination and decision-making are taught step by step, reinforced through repetition and applied in increasingly competitive settings.

A Player Pathway Built for Long-Term Growth
FFA NYC’s model meets players where they are and advances them according to development, commitment and readiness—not age alone:
- Player Development Program (ages 5–6; birth years 2020–2021): A welcoming first step focused on love of the game, ball mastery, passing, coordination and confidence. Coaches also use age-appropriate cognitive learning tools—including colors, numbers and simple verbal cues—to strengthen comprehension and motor learning.
- Advanced Training Group: A selective transitional environment that helps emerging players refine technique, increase decision-making speed and prepare mentally and physically for travel-team expectations.
- Travel Team Program (ages 7–11; U8–U11): FFA NYC’s most competitive track combines advanced technical and tactical training with weekend matches against teams from across New York City’s five boroughs. Four small rosters of approximately 10–12 players support meaningful coaching attention.
- Private and Small-Group Training: Customized development for field players and goalkeepers, from beginners to high-school athletes, with targeted work in speed, agility, ball control, technique, soccer IQ and position-specific skills.
- Seasonal Intensives and Camps: High-energy programming designed to improve agility, game awareness, decision-making, mental toughness and execution under pressure.
Preparing Players for What Comes Next
FFA NYC’s pathway is designed to build the earlier-stage technical fluency, tactical awareness, discipline and game intelligence that ambitious players need before they can credibly pursue opportunities at that level. The Academy does not promise placement; it develops readiness.
As athletes mature, FFA NYC continues to support higher-level ambitions through player identification opportunities, college-pathway guidance, recommendations and references when appropriate.

Player Development Program
Tuesdays, September 8–November 24, 2026 | 4:00–5:30 p.m. | Pier 40 Rooftop Field #1, 353 West Street, New York, NY 10014. The 12-week season includes one weekly session; the published season package includes training gear and a soccer ball.
Travel Team Program
Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 8–November 24, 2026 | 4:00–5:30 p.m. | Pier 40 Rooftop. Weekend games are scheduled through the CJSL league. Birth-year teams: 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016.

Coaching With Purpose—On and Off the Field
Founder Kevin “Coach Lue” Lue immigrated from Ivory Coast to the United States at age 12 with dreams of playing professionally. After injuries changed that path, coaching became his second calling. Following more than a decade of coaching in New York City—and helping players advance into high-school, college and professional settings—he founded FFA NYC to address a recurring problem: young athletes were often expected to perform before anyone had fully taught them the fundamentals.
That mission extends beyond competition. As a 501(c)(3) organization, FFA NYC uses soccer to motivate, educate and inspire youth while emphasizing respect, hard work, discipline, courage, strength and positivity. Through The Dream Lives On Foundation, the organization also supports children in Yopougon, Ivory Coast with soccer programming, educational resources, technology classes and essential supplies.
